Rapp-it Pipe Repair Bandages are suitable for use on all pipework in factories, manufacturing, and sugar mills. Rapp-it is also ideal for use on vacuum pump drains commonly involved in the sugar milling process.

SCOPE

The customer advised that they had a leak in a 4″ pipe that was used as a drain off a vacuum pump for cooling water. The pipe had completely snapped off the flange, and was difficult to wrap as there was a cable tray next to it. This repair was done using a ladder and a harness to safely access a hard to reach repair.

SOLUTION

The customer shut down the line and cleaned and roughened the damaged area. First, the customer stemmed the leak with the Rapp-it Steel Putty, and then applied several Rapp-it Pipe Repair Bandages (RAP164) over the
top. The leak in the drain line was repaired quickly, allowing the pipe to go back into service and saving costly downtime.
