Rapp-it is suitable for use on most pipes and hoses, and is regularly used on pipe and hose repairs in gas and water power-stations in Australia and across the world.

SCOPE

The customer advised that they had a heavily rusted and corroded gas well head pipe with numerous holes and leaks. To replace the well head would cost $1,000s in downtime, and the customer needed a quick, temporary repair without disrupting the plant. This was classed as an extremely difficult repair, and is not a typical application. The customer took advantage of our free Online Training Sessions before commencing, due to the difficult nature of the repair.

SOLUTION

The customer shut down the pipe and cleaned and roughened the damaged area, removing as much rust and corrosion as possible. The customer then applied Rapp-it Steel Putty liberally to the damaged and corroded area, covering any visible holes and pitting. Several Rapp-it Pipe Repair Bandages (RAP304) were applied, and the pipe was back up and running in 30 minutes. Though the repair was difficult, Rapp-it was able to successfully stem the leak to save the customer from trouble, until a replacement pipe could be installed.
